The Faculty of Architecture (Slovak Technical University) was organising an open day evening together with special lectures fom foreign and also home architects. The star of the night was indeed Jenny Osuldsen from Norway, representing Snohetta. She was such an energic and enthusiastic woman I´d like to embrace her. Jenny presented some of the Snohetta´s works. I especially liked Wild Reindeer Pavilion and Gabriel was enchanted by Norwegian National Opera and Ballet. 

Fakulta architektúry organizovala deň večer otvorených dvería sériu prednášok v rámci akcie Noc architektov. Najväčšou hviezdou bola nepochybne Nórka Jenny Osuldsen z ateliéru Snohetta. Napriek neskorej večernej hodine bola plná plná pozitívnej energie. Návštevníkom odprezentovala niekoľko projektov Snohetty. Najviac ma chytila za srdce pozorovateľna divých jeleňov a Gabimu sa pozdávala budova Nórskej národnej opery a baletu.

What do architects do when they´ re bored? Well, they construct cars, for example. To be precise, just their prototypes. With the exception of Foster´s London bus, none of these vehicles can be seen on the roads. I wish you nice week. I´ll be back with some other interesting stuff very soon. 

Čo robia architekti keď sa nudia? Napríklad, navrhujú autá. Aby sme boli presní, len ich prototypy. Až na Fosterov Londýnsky autobus, žiadne z týchto vozidiel na cestách neuvidíte. Prajem pekný týždeň. Čoskoro sa ozvem opäť. 

We are used to great stuff happening in big cities. Metropoles are naturally full of people bringing new ideas and innovations. When you take a look at small slovakian towns, you can see the leftovers of communism and agriculture very clearly. Its pace is significantly slowen. Youngsters tend to leave it for work, studies, or simply "better life". 

The more you see this conditions, the more it surprises you, when you find something truly creative happening here. The project "Elektrárňa" is something that people living in Piešťany can be proud of. An old building near the railway station was overlooked for a long time. In 26th of April 2012 the whole new history was about to be written. Ing arch. Michal Ganobjak and Ing. arch. Vladimír Hain, in cooperation with  ADOM M Studio made a great deal of work. Nowadays is old electric power plant used as a museum, ehibition place and place for social and cultural meetings. What´s up right now? You can find out HERE on their facebook fanpage. 

Sme zvyknutí na to, že vo veľkomestách sa stavajú veľké veci. Metropoly sú celkom prirodzene plné ľudí s nápadmi a inováciami. Keď sa človek pozrie na menšie slovenské mestá, vidí pozostatky komunizmu a vidieka. Jeho tep je značne spomalený odlivom mladých za prácou, vzdelaním, "lepším životom". 

O to viac prekvapí, ak sa aj tu vyskytnú originálne nápady. Za projekt "Elektrárňa" sa mesto Piešťany rozhodne nemusí hanbiť. Starú schátralú budovu blízko železničnej stanice by ste si ešte prednedávnom ani nevšimli. 26. apríla 2012 sa pre ňu začala písať celkom iná história. Ing arch. Michal Ganobjak a Ing. arch. Vladimír Hain, v spolupráci s ADOM M Studio , sa s chuťou pustili do práce. Dnes bývalá elektráreň funguje ako múzeum, výstavný priestor aj miesto spoločenského a kultúrneho diania. Do you know Atelier yesss from Slovakia? It´ s full of young people who are keen on new challenges. In it´s portfolio you can find houses, flats, industrial  buildings, civil engineering works.

I´ve got instantly intrested in the project of the family house "Jurajov dvor". It is designed on several levels with using close connection to the exterior "You can step with your bare foot on the grass of the green roof or garden from almost every room", said the architect. Here you  can see the visualisation.

Poznáte Atelier yesss zo Slovenska? Je plný mladých ľudí, ktorí majú radi výzvy. Zameriavajú sa prevažne na tvorbu rodinných domov, bytových domov, zariadení prechodného ubytovania, objektov občianskej vybavenosti, inžinierskych stavieb, tvorby a realizácie interiérov. Najviac ma oslovil  projekt rodinného domu Jurajov dvor. Nie len že sa šikovne pohrali s viacerými výškovými úrovňami, zvládli aj pomerne dosť veľkú rozlohu. Najlepšie na tom je, že môžete bosou nohou stúpiť na trávu  z takmer každej izby. Aspoň tak to sľubuje architekt.

1) New Girl

Although this TV series isn´t as much popular in Slovakia, at least the apartment where the main story takes place is worth mentioning. This loft is full of crazy and open-minded, young people (Jess, Nick, Coach, Winston and Schmidt). Interior resembles their characters perfectly. Bicycle on the wall, colourful dining chairs and patterns combined with basic natural colors. This is NG´s apartment. 

Tento seriál nie je v našich končinách veľmi známy. Napriek tomu stojí za povšimnutie minimálne byt, kde sa celý príbeh odohráva. Loft je plný šialených, liberálnych, mladých ľudí (Jess, Nick, Coach, Winston a Schmidt). Interiér absolútne odráža charakter hlavných postáv. Všimnite si bycikel na stene, pestrofarebné stoličky a vzory kombinované s jednoduchým základom.  

3) How I met your mother (Ako som spoznal vašu matku)

Notoric in-lover Ted had his little apartment in New York furnished in red. Sometimes a telephone cell appeared right in the middle of the living room. Sometimes dusty piano next to the fireplace came to life. On the whole, his neighbours couldn´t complain at boredom at all. Robin, Barney, Lili and Marshall were always around to make some mess.

Večne zamilovaný Ted mal svoj bytík v New Yorku zariadený prevažne v červenej farbe. Občas sa uprostred obývačky objavila telefónna búdka, občas niekto oprášil klavír, čo stál pri krbe. Každopádne sa jeho susedia nenudili. Spoločnosť mu robili Robin, Barney, Lili a Marshall.
